Email Spam on the increase

September 9th, 2008 by admin

We have noticed an increase in the volume of spam email coming into our mail server and especially from Polish and Russian origins. There are many ways of keeping out spam email from your inbox:

1, Remove links on website with your email, these spammers “harvest” email addresses they find on websites
2, Insert your email in another format, example dave[at]cadamedia dot ie
3, Update your Email program, ie Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc. They have filters too, although somewhat basic.
4, Purchase a full email filter solution for your company with the following features:

* Blocks undesired email prior to it arriving in the inbox.
* Anti-spam
* Online Control panel
* Multiple anti-virus engines – updated hourly
* Content checks (adult material removed)
* Realtime blacklist checks
* Whitelists (good sites)
* Blacklists (bad sites)
* Advanced anti-phishing tests

The price is €249 plus Vat at 21% per annum. (RRP €325), This is available to all email addresses on your domain name yourdomain.ie

Irish Domain Name disputes

September 8th, 2008 by admin

Again and again we advise our clients and business owners that they should register their domain name to secure their online identity. Registering your Business Name with the Companies office is not good enough.

That only means that you intent to trade or might trade using that name. It also allows you to therefore now register the actual irish domain name. So now you contact us to register the actual www.your-name.ie

Many companies are under the impression that once they have register at the CRO that that’s it !!!

Sounds laughable but is actually very serious as it often leads to law suits and court cases. They are either misimformed by so called “Internet Expert” (nowadays that’s anyone with a bebo page!) or they are just not up so date with business today.

If you are thinking about setting up a business or a website for your business give us a call to get all the options available to you.

Google Revise their EULA after 1 day!

September 4th, 2008 by admin

Google have had to turn around very quickly and revise their End User Licence Agreement used when installing their new Browser on your pc. Basically the EULA stated that anything you published via/using their browser ie with a blog or a content management system meant that “they” were allowed use the content for their own means.

Shocking really.

Internet Explorer V8

September 3rd, 2008 by admin

Not to be outdone, Microsoft have realised their lastest Beta version of Internet explorer for testing. Version 8 is available to download from the following link

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/default.aspx

With Many new featurs such as the “In private” tool, This version allows you to browse the net and it will not record your pages viewed in the history folder, great for Internet Cafe’s , not so great for employers with out a firewall to keep out dodgy sites from surfer happy employees.

They also have a backward compatability feature to allow you to view websites that have been developed for previous versions of Inetnet Explorer. We would recommend that our clients update their browsers to allow them to gain the best experience of viewing the Internet and online content. Version 5 of Internet explorer is not supported by Microsoft anymore. They will not answer any questions regards its use or support for example!

We are testing this browser at the moment too and will let you know our results. If you have any comments or suggestions please let us know.

Irish Domain Name Price Increase

September 1st, 2008 by admin

We have been informed that Irish Domain Name registration prices have gone up since the 1st September 2008, we have shopped around and are in the process of getting the best price that we can then pass on to our clients.

International domains names still remain the cheapest options for an Irish business to register. Ireland is deciding to push users away from the Irish Domain for some strange reason! It’s so Irish really!

We will be emailing our newsletter to all clients once we have signed the new price agreement.
