How much to get a website designed?

Too true! Although in recent times I find that clients are more aware of the importantance of SEO and getting the website designed correctly for robots as well as people. Those with a good business head will do the research and realise that it’s worth the investment, particularly as it is still a much cheaper medium than the traditional.

Remember when the word-processor was new? People thought they could do all their printed material themselves – including designing their own logo in MS Word!

SEO is just one contributory facet of a successful website, David. All to often though SEO’s will optimise poorly designed and developed sites to death. There’s no point in having a massive footfall if you can’t make any conversions because your client’s site is unusable, buggy and ill conceived in the first place!

The holistic approach to Web design and development where every aspect is dealt with properly by competent professionals – from good, clear IA to solid project management, from development to security, right the way through to proper SEO and marketing – is the only way to build a successful Web presence and make any kind of return on investment.

Novices building their own websites poorly and then paying to have them SEO’d isn’t really a workable solution.
