One of our long established local customers asked us to look at moving their existing website to a new content managed version. After a meeting we choose a system that would suit the clients needs and budget and in this day and age a customers budget will often dictate the final product. Before we set about changing anything we had to look at the sites stats, as their is no point removing one of their most popular pages!

We backed up the old site, installed the new content management system with the various needed plugins such as Contact Form, Mapping and Gallery system. We then did the data migration and populated the site with the data from the old site.

We then logged into the hosting system and created forwarding URL’s from the old site to the new site pages. This means that any of the old pages that were listed in search engines will now be pointed to the new pages. This is a part of the process that other web designers may leave out but I personally believe is an important part of search engine optimisation and maintaining the sites position in search engines.

This ability to manage the sites content and layout will also mean that Bryanna and her team at the Old Deanery selfcatering cottages can now keep the site fresh with the new gallery system and also the things to do section has changed a lot in the South East and now she can update this from her own kitchen. No need to contact the web guy any more and ask him to update the site and then be billed for it ! DIY is King in 2012

Ken Murphy is just one of those business people, Ken approached us to design a solution that would give them the capabilities they needed to provide their customers with an online facility to manage documents. The solution also happens to be a website !

At Cada Media we specialise in this type of solution and we jumped at the opportunity to show off our expertise.  So we set about working with Ken and his team to create a website that allows him to manage his documentation online in a cloud computing solution, right here in Wexford !

With the domain name secured, we setup the hosting for ken and then set about the design of the site using their existing logo. The sites structure reflects their products and services. With hundreds of products ken wanted a straight forward site that would allow the customers to easily navigate to the product they wish to view. We did this to kens specification and when he sat beside me in the office and smiled I knew it was right.

Document Management System.

We then set to work on the new Document Management System for Hook & Hoist and using the right products we were able to create a solution that would allow this very mobile business to work well both in the office and out on the road. The system in a nut shell allows them to create users and associate them to documents using a secure online portal via a username and password system. Each customer can then store their Certificates online in the new “Certificate Bank”

We are delighted to announce the launch of a revamped site for a secondary school in Co. Kildare. Scoil Mhuire Clane is one of the largest schools in the area and they approached up to take care of their website needs. We created a new site based upon a open source structure that is also fully content managed.

The new site lists all the information that parents and pupils alike will need to be up-to-date with the school. All their policies are listed as well as the board of management and school calendar. The school have also invested heavily in cloud Computing and are taking advantage of online data storage, email hosting. They also have a school online portal for students to login and get notes and generally communicate electronically with the teachers etc

We were happy to be approached by an Arklow based charity to help her get her website back after the domain name and hosting had expired. With over 13 years experience and contacts in the industry we were able to get everything within two weeks after been contacted. We managed to track down the previous domain name registrant, renew her domain name. Then move onto the website itself and get back the pages, images and then finally the database.

We did it !

With in a matter to 10 working days we had everything back online and up and running. If you find yourself in the same situation then we might be able to help you out too. But my advice for this customer was to make sure that then they get a renewal notice from the company taking care of the domain and hosting to make it top priority as often now a days, when their is no response the services are often removed and deleted!

Martins Jewellers in Wexford town have been one of our customers for many years and we have seen their business change over the years and so too have their on-line presence. From being a brochure static HTML site Kevin and his team have progressed the site with us to a full content managed site giving them the capability to update it easily.

Going social is what it’s all about these days in terms of word of mouth marketing and what better way to take advantage of this new medium using social media site such as Facebook.com and YouTube. The site has been upgraded to the latest version of everything ! Its similar in style as the design brief instructed, but it now allows even more feedback and user participation. They are a family run mini farm that specialise in putting on a good how for seasonal themes. They ran a great Halloween show and now have revamped the entire Mini Farm to a Winter wonderland. They are based between Gorey and Courtown just off the M11 at exit 23.

Earlier this year we (Cada Media Ltd) were part of a Dragon’s Den style competition in North Wexford to try to find and help a new start up business. The winner of this was a fresh new business called Ciara’s Pantry, registered in March 2011, a home based food business producing artisan jellies and chutney’s.

As part of that price Ciara won a content managed website from ourselves. We have a number of products and services that we offer and for this competition we donated a custom package to help this new business get on-line. Ciara’s Pantry already had a holding page that was registered and hosted by a company in Waterford. After getting the domain name pointed to our own workspace ( web hosting servers) we then got involved in the inforamtion gathering with Ciara in order to understand her business and her business.

As we have worked on similar projects we are familiar with what the viewers of these type of sites are looking for and so we were able to put together a structure for Ciara to follow. This new structure meant collating her products into various categories that would work as “Drop Down Menu’s” on the site.

Ciara then we about putting her content together and she took her photograph’s, she wrote up her ingredients, suggested recipes and the stockist of her products. This is often a hard process for many start ups as they usually have no brochures or previous on-line content to work with.  Ciara did a great job in putting together information together and during this process she demonstrated that she will be well able to manage the website when we hand it over to her.

With the content we then set about putting a layout that would suit a new modern start up business whist keeping in mind making the site future proof. We then choose a content management software and a layout that would suit the business. We choose Joomla 1.6 running a market style layout that would portray a retail/market style of products. This choice is a very important one as technology is always changing we must pick a base that will be around in 6 months and indeed a years time.

Mobile phone usage is gaining momentum in Ireland to access the Internet it is estimated that more website will be viewed by mobile than a pc by December 2011. This in mind we created a mobile version of the site to help capture that growing market.

This version is a scaled down version of the full site that fits into a smaller screen, it auto detects that the user is connected via a mobile phone and then returns them the mobile content. This choice of content management software also means that we are providing this start up business with a mobile editing tool for the site.  Being able to edit and amend the site using an “App” means that Ciara will always have the ability to keep the website fresh and up-to-date.

The site is now live and gaining position in search engines such as Google, Bing, Alexa and Yahoo and will continues to gain ranking as it gets listed in more online directories such as our own Gorey Business Directory GoreyLinks.ie and others. Since going live a number of weeks ago the key phrases that it has come up for so far have been a great success and we are happy to see it gain in market share in the top fold of searches.

We have just launched a new website for an established business here in Wexford. Wells Granite & Marble Ltd are one of the top suppliers of Granite worktops in the South East. We received a phone call and after some discussion about our services we called out onsite to meet Lisa and her team. An impressive purpose built factory just a few miles south of Gorey, Co. Wexford.

Revamp our website.

One of the main issues of their existing site was that it could not be updated by themselves, it also couldn’t be updated by anyone else other than the original creator of the site, due to the way it was made. They were totally stuck as it also didnt appear correctly in a modern browser. The entire site was about the size of a match box if viewed in Firefox, Chrome or IE9!

Time for change

Not only was the old site unusable in certain browsers, but also the hosting company no longer was in a position for give them support due to a change in business direction for them. They were left out on a limb. Cada Media were able to provide them with a one-stop-shop for their entire Internet needs.

The new site is a fully content managed website allowing them the ability to update the text and images on the site.

A busy week this week with over 8 meetings with potential customers and again it was clear that companies really do need help in guiding them through the maze of ideas the internet has to offer. But a few key factors need to be addressed first.

What is the purpose of the website, do you want a website to:

1. Look nice and show customers a style and image?
2. Generate real sales leads?
3. Earn money online?
4. Sell Products?

These questions have sub categories but they are the basis of setting up a web marketing strategy and getting the true benefit of investing in your brand. The investment you make needs to be planned and measured. Your brand can be made or lost in the blink of an eye if you do it wrong on-line.
