We had a call this week from a client in Limerick who’s domain name and hosting account expired and they were not aware that it was up for renewal. After a few minutes investigation into the matter we asked if they had moved address?
The answer was Yes!
When you are changing address of your business it is suggested that you remember to inform the company looking after your website, emails, hosting as we are not mind readers.
Out of sight, out of mind.
The internet is one of those things like insulation in the attic, it has a good purpose etc, but is often over looked as we don’t see it every day. With many businesses finding better deals in office rental around ireland they will move the phone, the broadband and get the post redirected.
In this case they had just asked the postman to deliver it to their new address. They had not got an official redirect by An Post and so our little invoice and following statements had sat lonely on a cold floor in an office.
It was only when the actual domain name had expired that their emails and website had stopped functioning that they started to look up their suppliers and noticed that they had not notified ourselves.
If you are moving office or house and have a website/domain name(s) we recommend that you keep us in mind as I doubt many Internet businesses in Ireland will automatically renew these services anymore
If you are one of our clients and by change read this, can you please let us know that all our records are up to date

Dave
